The Frecce Tricolori have kicked off the Italian Grand Prix by rolling out the Tricolore on the starting grid of the Monza circuit

Green, white and red colored fumes on the starting grid of the Italian Grand Prix in Monza: this is how the National Aerobatic Team of the Air Force opened the Italian stage of Formula 1. The nine MB339A PAN aircraft of the Frecce Tricolori, also this one year, they rolled out the longest Tricolor in the world just before the start of the race, at the end of the Mameli anthem by making a series of flying passes on the straight of the Monza racetrack.

Engines and speed, but also technology, innovation and above all team spirit, key elements that unite the Flight Departments of the Italian Air Force and the stables of the 1 Formula.

The Air Force, since its establishment, is naturally inclined to the development of innovation and modernity, fundamental pillars that allow the Armed Forces airplanes to furrow, as they do from 96 years, the skies of the whole world following the same vocation: to be useful to the country and operate at the service and for the defense of the community.

After the overflight at the Monza racetrack, the National Acrobatic Patrol rolled out the Tricolor on the Upper Lake Iseo, in Lovere, on the occasion of the 17 ° Memorial Mario Stoppani, a highly decorated loverese aviator considered one of the most important seaplane pilots of all times.

The overflights that the Frecce Tricolori carried out today on the skies of Lombardy, also represent an anticipation of the participation of the PAN in the air shows of Varenna, Desenzano del Garda and Milan. In particular, the 13 October the Frecce Tricolori will return to the Milan skies to present the complete aerobatic program at the Milano Linate Air Show.

The 313 Acrobatic Training Group "Frecce Tricolori"

The 313 ° Acrobatic Training Group "Frecce Tricolori" of the Italian Air Force was born on the Rivolto airport on March 1, 1961. For about 60 years, their mission has been to represent the values and professionalism of all men and women within the Air Force, both in Italy and abroad.

Furthermore, the Frecce Tricolori reflect the skills and experience of pilots and specialists of the Air Force but also of all the personnel of the Italian Armed Forces in general.

The National Aerobatic Team is composed of approximately 100 people: officers, non-commissioned officers and troop personnel who carry out their work every day with passion and competence to make the spectacular acrobatic flight program possible.

A flight program, like that of the Frecce Tricolori, is the result of many years of specific activity in the collective acrobatics carried out by the Departments of the Air Force; it is therefore a wealth of great experience, which has been built and handed down over time through the contribution of ideas and experiences of the members of the Italian Acrobatic Patrols. To date, PAN has flown more than 2000 demonstrations, visiting European countries, nations of North Africa, the Middle East, Canada and the United States of America.

The National Aerobatic Team is composed of 10 MB339A PAN aircraft, nine of which carry out the acrobatic program in formation while one instead is piloted by the soloist.

All pilots assigned to the “Frecce Tricolori” come from the Fighter Wing of the Italian Air Force.

In 2020 the Frecce Tricolori will celebrate their 60th acrobatic season, a special birthday that will give life to an air show right at the Rivolto military airport, which will be attended by some of the most prestigious aerobatic patrols in the world and the main Italian industrial and aerospace realities .
