V Day is also taking place in Tuscany. The first 8 doses of vaccine destined for hospitals in Tuscany left this morning around 620 am, escorted by the patrols of the State Police.

They arrived at the Florentine hospital of Careggi at dawn escorted by an army vehicle and from there they left to reach 11 hospitals in the region (San Giovanni di Dio in Florence, San Giuseppe di Empoli, San Iacopo di Pistoia, Santo Stefano of Prato, AOU Pisana, United Hospitals of Livorno, San Luca of Lucca, Apuan Hospital of Massa, AOU Senese, Hospital of the Misericordia of Grosseto, San Donato Hospital of Arezzo) and a RSA, the Montedomini of Florence.

The vaccine was prepared and packaged in order to respect the cold chain and then loaded on board specialized machines, all left at the same time from the Florentine hospital. Each car was escorted all the way by the patrols of the State Police, always engaged on the front line in this emergency. The precious cargo arrived at its destination and in all hospitals the vaccine was administered to a first selected group of doctors and health workers.
