Most candidates opt for civil law (11.972)

The deadlines for allowing participation in the state exam for the qualification to practice the legal profession - 2020 session, postponed due to the pandemic - have been extended for those who, already registered, have not completed the membership by the deadline of 24 April.

The Minister of Justice, Marta Cartabia, has signed a ministerial decree, which allows these candidates to be able - by Friday 30 April at 12 noon - to choose the subjects for the first and second oral tests, a necessary condition for completing the registration procedure. The option must be expressed on the dedicated online platform.

Of the nearly 26.000 candidates, 22.089 have already made the choice of subjects; 204 have instead expressly renounced to take the test, while 3.608 practitioners, already enrolled, have not yet expressed any option. Given the exceptional nature of the pandemic situation, the tight deadlines of the procedures and the changes introduced in this session, they are now given a new and final window to confirm participation in the exam. The starting date of the first oral exam, already indicated as 20 May, remains confirmed. Data are also available on the preferences expressed by aspiring lawyers on the subject chosen for the first oral test, replacing the written ones. Most of the candidates opt for civil law (11.972); following, criminal law (9.416) and administrative law (701). Data, collected for the first time, indicative of the preferences of aspiring lawyers.
