Third appointment in Naples with the conference "Hematology, oncology and pain medicine between humanization of care and precision medicine", scheduled for the 24 and 25 October at the Renaissance Hotel Mediterraneo in Via Ponte di Tappia. The purpose of the workshop is to provide the latest scientific news and to investigate the importance of the correct relationship between healthcare professionals, patients and caregivers for an effective personalized therapy that takes into account not only the Precision Medicine but also the narration of the patient in order to improve adherence therapeutic ...

The 'patient journey', an Anglo-Saxon expression that describes the patient's journey in the care pathway, is often experienced as a nightmare by the patient and the family members involved. Our health system is composed of a series of complex services and a multitude of professionals involved with whom the patient and caregiver interface in a difficult relationship, based on little time available, and poorly empathic, particularly in the hospitalization process.

Then came the third edition of the workshop organized by Beniamino Casale, Head of IPAS Molecular and Immunological Therapies in Oncology - PO Monaldi and Carlo Negri, partner and director of Napolilab, a marketing consulting company that will make use of contributions from doctors, nurses, psychologists , trainers, patient associations in a confrontation aimed at understanding the difficulties associated with their respective roles.

It starts on Thursday 24 October at 15.30 while the 25 starts at 9.00. The two training days will be inaugurated by the doctors Giuseppe Argenziano, director of the Chair of Dermatology of the 1 ° Policlinico, Alfonso Papa, director of the Pain Management Department of Monaldi, Mauro Giordano, director of the School of specialization in Emergency Medicine - urgency of the University of Campania, Paolo Monorchio, president of the Red Cross Committee of Naples. The Communication session will make use of the contributions of Michela Montevecchi, senator member of the Cultural Heritage Commission, Maria Domenica Castellone, senator member of the Health Commission, Stefania Polvani, president of SIMeN, the Italian Society of Narrative Medicine and other distinguished guests.

"The Narrative Medicine (Narrative Based Medicine - NBM) - says Beniamino Casale - is making its silent entry into the field of care, placing itself as an aptitude and instrument properly therapeutic as well as humanization of care. This is happening, paradoxically, in the era of the burst of Precision Medicine (PM), based on the integration of knowledge and techniques derived from bioinformatics, biotechnology, genetics and the manipulation of Big Data in medicine. Thus on the one hand there is the body, a field of scientific research, the subject of Evidence Based Medicine. On the other hand, the mind, always elusive and linked to constantly changing feelings. Our goal is to bring about a "reunion" of these two apparently distant universes, while they are unique, especially considering the choice of the therapeutic path ".

Among the novelties of this edition, explains Carlo Negri, there is the new collaboration with SIMeN to spread the importance of a correct doctor-patient relationship and form a national network involving all the sensitive and active professionals on this topic, the launch of an online magazine that aims to decode the complex medical language making it accessible to all and a series of musical and artistic initiatives dedicated to patients, caregivers and health professionals.
