Leonardo partner of "Florence of children" for quality education in line with the objectives of the UN Agenda 2030

A spectacular multimedia installation inspired by Leonardo da Vinci's machines. An imposing wooden structure, called “Ing. Leonardo 500 - the imaginary of flight "and created together with Studio Azzurro and the Institute of the Italian Encyclopedia Treccani, capable of transmitting the inventive power of the genius of the Renaissance and his ability to observe nature, showing, at the same time , images of innovative products: Leonardo's planes, helicopters, drones and satellites. This will be the central moment of the company's participation in the “Florence for children” initiative, scheduled from 12 to 14 April next in the Tuscan capital. An occasion in which Leonardo, leader in high technology, will renew its strong commitment to the enhancement of scientific citizenship, in line with the 4th objective of the UN Agenda 2030, focused on quality, equitable and inclusive education and on learning opportunities for all.

The "Florence of children" initiative demonstrates Leonardo's leading role in promoting the STEAM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) and the company's great attention to the new generations, to the growth of talents and to their ability to imagine and prefigure the future. The contribution to the event, in the year of the five hundredth anniversary of the death of Leonardo da Vinci, also responds to the need to foster dialogue and contamination between technological innovation, creativity and imagination, drawing inspiration from the Tuscan genius, from its multifaceted personality and from his eclectic talent, which influenced the development, with an extraordinary innovative force, of multiple disciplines.

Florence will be the first stop on a journey that will bring the "multimedia machine" to other destinations in Italy and abroad, bearing witness to the Italian genius and his ability to invent, create and innovate. As a partner of the event, Leonardo will organize, in particular, some educational workshops on the topics of technology and science. Among these, the Coding Generation, where children and young people will be able to meet, creating animated and interactive objects, with the realization of their first computer program. Or the laboratory dedicated to Leonardo's machines yesterday and today, to reconstruct the inventions of the Tuscan genius by animating them through sensors and small engines. Or, again, the laboratory of Surprising Optics, focused on the scientific laws that govern the behavior and properties of light and its interaction with matter.

Furthermore, Leonardo's participation in “Florence for children” strengthens the link with the territory: in the Tuscany Region there are five company plants that employ a total of around 1.800 employees, engaged in the main sectors of high technology.

It is in Leonardo's site in Campi Bisenzio (Florence) that the most powerful hyperspectral instrument in the world was launched last week, aboard the ASI satellite, PRISMA.
