Leonardo: fourth edition of the Compliance Council dedicated to integrity in the conduct of business

The integrity in the conduct of the business was the main topic of the fourth edition of the Compliance Council, the annual initiative promoted by Leonardo that experienced its final day in Rome with the participation of the Group's Top Management, national and foreign experts , of authoritative representatives of the Italian control authorities, of the university world and of the Judiciary.

The 2019 Compliance Council was organized throughout the month of October with discussion and discussion days at the various Italian sites of Leonardo's Divisions, then moving to Rome for the session dedicated to the Group's Subsidiaries and for the final institutional day.

“The annual meeting of the Compliance Council represents a fundamental moment of reflection and joint evaluation of our rules - commented Giovanni De Gennaro, President of Leonardo - and the concrete application of the values and principles we have codified. Operating in such uncertain and constantly evolving geopolitical scenarios that determine a rapid change in rules, organizations and regulations, it is necessary - concludes De Gennaro - a continuous updating and comparison to prevent any reputational damage for our company ".

“Integrity - declared the CEO of Leonardo, Alessandro Profumo - must increasingly become a value to believe in for sustainable business management. I am firmly convinced of the importance of this concept as a distinctive behavior of our people: it is no coincidence that it has been included in the leadership model, our model of competences. Acting with integrity and transparency - added Profumo - means being reliable partners in the long term for customers, suppliers and all stakeholders: a fundamental requirement for consolidating our international leadership ".

During the work of the final day the "Managerial Actions" developed on the basis of the proposals prepared by the operational entities of the Group were illustrated, to be implemented in the coming months in order to make the concept of Business Integrity ever more concrete. A value that, as has been pointed out, must be "embedded" in Leonardo's people, that is, incorporated and applied in every behavior by individuals as an essential component of corporate culture. In fact, integrity in business is one of the eight values of the transversal skills model developed by Leonardo and the prerequisite and foundation for the creation of sustainable value over time in the conduct of business must be considered.

The management's Integrity Action proposals will be voted on by Leonardo employees and the winning action, which will be announced on 9 December - on the occasion of the International Day against Corruption - will be implemented, in 2020, by all Group companies with the 'goal of making Leonardo's commitment to this area increasingly "central" and widespread within and outside the Group.

Overall, the fourth edition of the Compliance Council, organized by the central structure of the Group General Counsel, was attended by 1.100 employees of the Group and the work was followed, in streaming, by 15 Countries. The academic world was represented by professors from the main universities in Campania, Lazio, Liguria, Lombardy and Piedmont. Representatives of the Court of Cassation, Transparency International and bodies of the so-called "Third Sector" have also made a valuable contribution to enhancing the path of the 2019 Compliance Council.
