Libya, Macron calls Al Serraj

French President Emmanuel Macaron had a telephone conversation with President of the Presidential Council, Fayez Al-Sarraj, to deny his country's ties to the current war in southern Tripoli, after several reports point to France precisely behind the Khalifa Haftar's war on Tripoli.
Macron therefore called for an immediate stop to the fighting.
According to the Press Office of the Presidential Council, Fayez Sarraj expressed her disappointment at the attack, which came at a time when Libyans were looking forward to convening the National Conference to resolve the crisis peacefully.
"Haftar has decided to send his troops to the capital to destabilize the optimism of the Libyan people and to bring the country back into war on a whim is his personal desire for a chance," Sarraj told Marcon.
France has been accused of being one of Haftar's main supporters in the ongoing war on the capital. Libya Ahrar TV reported on Monday that France had sent military experts to the mountain town of Gharyan where Haftar's armed groups are positioned to direct the war on Tripoli.
Earlier this week, Presidential Council President Fayez Sarraj summoned French Ambassador to Libya Béatrice du Hellen to officially protest France's support for the armed groups of warlord Khalifa Haftar.
According to The Lybian Observer, the president of the European Parliament, Antonio Tajani, has accused France of intervening in Libya for his interests.
