Migrants, Italy ready not to vote for conclusions at the EU Council summit

At the end of the preliminary work of the European Council summit, some of the "Sherpas" let it be known that Italy's position is peremptory. 'If in the past someone was persuaded with some flexibility, now our ideas are very clear'. Italy wants the discussion to focus on the whole package relating to immigration management, alternatively, there will be no negotiations with other countries. Discussing secondary movements without addressing the full package is not in our plans. The point, as Prime Minister Conte has already said, is that those who arrive in Italy arrive in Europe. Conte had a bilateral meeting of about half an hour with the German Chancellor Angela Merkel and met the President of the EU Parliament Antonio Tajani while the two-way confrontation with President Emmanuel Macron, which had been requested by France, missed due to lack of time. Italy therefore intends to strongly defend its positions in Brussels, and in this sense it is pointed out, with regard to Merkel's 'pact between willing', that it is a German proposal and that Italy has always been willing . If again it turns out that the Italian proposal is not heard, one can also say no, the sources recall, stressing that there is the possibility that Italy will not vote on the conclusions of the summit.
