Aeronautica Militare helicopter finds a young couple lost in the mountains

An HH-139A of the 84esimo CSAR Center of Gioia del Colle, in readiness service, rescued the couple who had been lost in a mountainous area of ​​the Campania

Last night an HH-139A helicopter of the 84th CSAR (Combat Search and Rescue) Center of the Italian Air Force found a couple of young people who had got lost in an inaccessible area of ​​Mount Bulgheria, in the southern part of Campania.

The helicopter, which was in readiness service, was activated for the search and rescue activity by the Air Operations Command of Poggio Renatico (FE), in turn alerted by the Campania delegation of the National Center for Alpine and Speleological Rescue (CNSAS ).

Taking off around 22:00 from Gioia del Colle (BA) airport, home of the 84th CSAR Center, the HH-139A first headed to Sasso di Castalda (PZ), where a team of the CNSAS embarked then reach the area of ​​Mount Bulgheria. The research was conducted using the night vision goggles on board the helicopter and thanks to telephone contact with one of the two young people.

Once the couple's position was identified, the HH-139A crew and the CNSAS team carried out the recovery and transfer operations to the safe area.

The 84esimo CSAR Center depends on the 15 ° Stormo, which is based in Cervia, in the province of Ravenna. Together with the other CSAR Centers distributed throughout the national territory, it guarantees 24 hours on 24, 365 days a year, the search and rescue of flight crews in difficulty, as well as contributing to public utility activities such as the search for missing persons at sea or in the mountains, emergency medical transport of life-threatening patients and the rescue of serious traumatized patients.
