Florence: Air Force near the Meyer Pediatric Hospital Foundation

(by Massimiliano D'Elia) In Florence at theInstitute of Military Aeronautical Sciences about one hundred captains from all Italian bases, visitors to the 25simo course of specialization, organized a charity evening in favor of the Meyer Pediatric Hospital Foundation.

In the presence of the commander of the Institute, general of air brigade Vincenzo Nuzzo and of the entire permanent picture, the special guest was the president of the foundation the neonatologist professor Gianpaolo Donzelli, attending officers donated a small message of hope to the Tuscan children's hospital.

 

The personnel of the Air Force on many other occasions, throughout Italy, has always been close to those who are facing the real "battles", those for life. The Military Aeronautical Sciences Institute of Florence has always supported the Meyer Pediatric Hospital Foundation both with the fundraising formula and with periodic “blood” donation activities.

"Be close to the little ones, stressed the professor Donzelli thanking the young officers, maybe it's the highest flight you could all do tonight".

The general Nuzzo he thanked all his visiting officers, saying: "this evening we read from your eyes the spirit of the Air Force, always at the service of the country and its citizens, in this case of the smallest".

ISMA Florence

Officials in the rank of Captain flock to the prestigious Institute for the attendance of courses necessary for advancement to the rank of Major. One of these courses is associated with a Master in "Leadership and strategic analysis", carried out in collaboration with the Department of Political and Social Sciences "Cesare Alfieri" of the University of Florence, also open to civil graduates. Other formative moments are foreseen in the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and Colonel for the Officers who will assume the function of Commander of the Group and Department. To these, the Seminar for Generali Brigade was also added, which presents itself as an opportunity for reflection, in which to exchange experiences and knowledge, acquire tools and stimulate strategic thinking. Likewise, the Institute also affirms itself as a cultural and thought center of the Armed Forces, hosting international Congresses and Seminars of an aeronautical and military nature, as well as national and international conferences and study and work groups. The logistical and technological potential of ISMA are recognized and appreciated even at the inter-agency and industrial level, so as to be able to host symposiums, work tables, NATO, EU and civil meetings and committees.

The aim of the Institute is to achieve excellence in military training activities in the broadest sense of the term: from the growth of managerial and / or managerial skills, to the development of human resources, from doctrinal development initiatives of Air-Space Power, involving national and international bodies, in research and development activities; from innovative teaching methods, experiential and distance learning (e-learning), to high-value training processes, aimed at increasing skills in the field of Leadership and Management. So evolve to become a cultural center, a reference point for military and non-military trainers and instructors.

Furthermore, at the Institute of Military Aeronautical Sciences, the Department for Didactic and Managerial Training has the peculiar task of carrying out training and research / development activities in the sectors of teaching methods and managerial skills: the Department is a focal point in the Italian Air Force for the e-learning methodology and for leadership training as well as providing employment-oriented training, qualifying professional figures such as teachers and military instructors, e-learning tutors, the advisors for operations outside the national borders and, in the managerial sphere, military project managers. The Re.Fo.Di.Ma. it is also responsible for the training of professional figures who in various capacities take care of designing and evaluating training courses: for this purpose a course on Planning and Teaching Evaluation is carried out for Training Managers, in which indispensable advanced techniques and tools are provided to create courses based on maximum training effectiveness. Furthermore, in collaboration with the University of Florence, the Department for Educational and Managerial Training also promotes Higher Education courses, specifically on Human Resource Management, with regard to the managerial field, and on new training methodologies (experiential training / outdoor) regarding innovative teaching methods. Most of the courses of the Department for Educational and Managerial Training are open not only to employees of the Ministry of Defense, but also to personnel not belonging to the Defense Administration who make a justified request for professional purposes. The ISMA in turn depends on the Aviation Military School “Giulio Douhet", Incorporated in the 2006, with the aim of giving high school students a high quality preparation, based on mutual respect and the spirit of the body and with lessons aimed at aeronautical activities. The aim of the Military School is to offer a varied and balanced pre-university training opportunity, guaranteeing young students an articulated course of scientific-mathematical, humanistic and linguistic studies that includes a solid ethical and moral education, also through the study of history and of the noble traditions of the AM, in order to forge citizen specimens, close to public institutions, linked to aeronautical values ​​and aware of the social, political and economic dynamics of their time. In the 2009 the flag of the Institute of ISMA was decorated with a Gold Medal for aeronautical merit.

Meyer Pediatric Hospital Foundation

Meyer's experimental and translational research activities can count on a particular ally: the Meyer ONLUS Pediatric Hospital Foundation.

Thanks to the work of the Foundation and its targeted fundraising activity, scientific and technological updating projects of strategic importance for the continuous scientific and welfare growth of the hospital can be supported.

Many hospitality projects, aimed at children and families, are an added value that is integrated into the care path. All this allows the little patients to play in a comfortable environment, full of colors and curiosities, to experience the multiple activities of the educational labs in the playroom, to listen to music with their parents, to share the playfulness of the clowns and the experience of " pet therapy ”.

The Foundation pursues its objectives according to the principles of fairness, efficiency and transparency and makes the public reporting activity an inalienable moment of "accountability" and of value identity to which its activity is based.
