The Air Force yesterday carried out a humanitarian transport in favor of an Italian Army soldier suffering a very rare pathology.

The Falcon 900 of the 31 ° Stormo di Ciampino took off from Italy in the late morning and landed at New York airport in the night. The soldier, accompanied by a medical team from the Celio military hospital, was transported to the “New York Presbiterian” hospital to receive the necessary treatment.

The health protocol was activated through intensive coordination between the two hospitals, the Office of the Defense Officer at the Italian Embassy in Washington, the Office of the Council Presidency and the Situation Room of the Air Squad Command, the Air Force operations room which has among its tasks that of organizing and managing this type of intervention in favor of Italian citizens.

Through its Flight Departments, the Air Force provides vehicles and crews ready to take off at any time and able to operate even in adverse weather conditions to ensure urgent transport not only of people in imminent danger of life but also of organs and medical teams for transplants. Hundreds of flight hours are carried out every year for this kind of intervention by the aircraft of the 31 ° Stormo of Ciampino, of the 14 ° Stormo of Pratica di Mare and of the 46a Air Brigade of Pisa.
