A child of just two months, in imminent danger of life, was rushed in the late morning from Cagliari to Pisa, on board an Airbus 319 plane of the 31st Wing of the Italian Air Force.
The request for transport was received from the Prefecture of Cagliari to the Situation Room at the Summit of the Air Squad Command, the operations room of the Air Force which has among its tasks that of authorizing and managing this type of mission for the population.
The Situation Room of Vertice has therefore ordered the urgent take-off of the Airbus 319, one of the assets that the Armed Forces holds 24 hours on 24 for this kind of need, which started from Ciampino to Cagliari, from where it then took off , once the child is on board, at 13: 15.
After about an hour of flight, the airplane landed at Pisa airport, where the child was transferred to an ambulance for immediate transport to the “San Michele” hospital in Massa.
Through its flight departments, the Italian Air Force provides vehicles and crews ready to take off at any time and able to operate in any weather condition to ensure the urgent transport not only of people in imminent danger of life, as happened today. , but also of organs and medical teams for transplants. Thousands of flight hours are carried out every year by the aircraft of the 31st Wing of Ciampino, the 14th Wing of Pratica di Mare and the 46th Air Brigade of Pisa, always placed on the front line in case of emergency.
