MIPAAF, Bellanova: today at noon against violence against women #qualcosadirosso on the facade of the ministry

At noon a red cloth was lowered onto the façade of the Ministry of Agriculture, in via XX Settembre.

It is the gesture, at once symbolic and political, with which the Minister of Agriculture, Teresa Bellanova, intends to underline the importance of the International Day against Violence against Women which is celebrated all over the world today.

And to reinforce its relevance, Minister Bellanova yesterday sent a letter to all and all employees of the Ministry, inviting them to wear #qualcosadirosso for this morning.

Because, underlined the Minister in the letter, this is "a battle of civilizations that concerns all of us. Suffice it to say that: in our country feminicides have increased from 37% of 2018 to 49% between January and August 2019; in the month of March only 2019, on average, every 15 minute a woman was a victim of gender-based violence; every 72 hours in Italy a woman is killed by a person she knows, usually her partner; 3 out of four feminicides happen at home. A violence that must be known and stopped ”.

For this reason, the #qualcosadirosso and # liberapuoi hashtags already appear this morning on the Mipaaf social pages.

"Free you can," stresses Minister Bellanova, making the awareness campaign of Minister Bonetti his own, because "violence against women is defeated even by working concretely to combat economic violence and above all to support female employment and work-life balance, strengthening the presence of women in the workplace, anywhere ".

“We wanted this symbolic gesture”, affirms Minister Bellanova, “to reaffirm the right attention and the dutiful commitment of the institutions to effectively protect and safeguard thousands of women who, unfortunately, are victims of violence every day, even in Italy. A violence that, as we well know, often takes place in the home and that heavily marks the victims, when it does not dramatically end their lives ”.
