Work on a sector plan that can incentivize production, supporting research and technological innovation as well as strengthening supply chain policies. These are the objectives of the industrial hemp table, of which the inauguration meeting was held today in videoconference in the presence of the Undersecretary for Agricultural Policies, Giuseppe L'Abbate. At the center of the comparison is also the use of part of the funds made available for 2021 by the latest Budget Law, equal to 10 million euros.

"Today we are laying the foundations to relaunch and support the national production of hemp, a plant in whose potential we strongly believe - declares the Undersecretary for Agricultural Policies, Giuseppe L'Abbate - Hoping for an active and profitable dialogue with the protagonists of the supply chain, we are 'objective of approving a development plan for the sector in order to highlight the needs and requirements of the sector, so as to intervene with adequate funding capable of increasing production given the multiplicity of purposes of use of this plant ”.

A total of 48 members took part in the videoconference meeting, representatives of the ministries of the Interior, of Health, of Economic Development, of the Environment, of the Customs and Monopoly Agency, of the Carabinieri for Defense, of the three departments of Mipaaf, of the supervised bodies Crea, Ismea and Agea as well as of the Regions. For the productive world, the six agricultural professional organizations, four central agricultural cooperatives, six national representation organizations as well as six hemp sector associations and two stakeholders participated. Finally, the Universities of Rome La Sapienza and of Modena and Reggio Emilia.
