MIPAAF: Nebrodi operation to defend the agri-food sector

Bellanova: “operation of great importance. So we defend the healthy agri-food industry from gangs and taxation. European resources must serve good enterprises, not to enrich mafia clans and depress territories. The connivance of the public administration is very serious "

“An operation of great importance for which my thanks and my applause goes to the Messina District Anti-Mafia Prosecutor's Office, to the Ros, to the Carabinieri Agro-Food Protection Command. The gravity of what emerged is enormous. Equally evident is the damage deriving from removing important European resources from good agriculture and quality companies, which in eastern Sicily are the majority, to direct them towards the mafia gangs and businesses colluded with the connivance of pieces of the public administration. Doubly guilty considering the use of the figure of young entrepreneurs, functional to the distraction of resources. A crime in crime, a theft of the future from the new generations, to Sicily, to its excellent food and agriculture that I have been able to personally visit again even in the last few weeks.

The very modern and dynamic physiognomy, according to the investigators, of the vanquished criminal groups, very far from the stereotype of the mafia of the pastures, confirms the importance of the investigation work that affects mafia clans dedicated to the exploitation of public resources in agriculture, even making this emerge as a priority activity, with an injury to healthy businesses.

Significant operation also for the number of women and men of the Carabinieri Corps including our specialized department.

Once again the quality of our prevention and repression system emerges to protect that economy and the agri-food sector which choose, without hesitation, the way of legality, respect for the law, virtuous and healthy competition, territorial quality as an element fundamental for competitiveness and development ".
