MIPAAFT, meeting between Franco Manzato and Chinese ambassador Li Junhua

The Undersecretary for Agriculture, Food and Forestry Policies and Tourism Franco Manzato met today in Rome with the Ambassador-designate of the People's Republic of China in Italy, LI Junhua.

The Under-Secretary underscored the importance of "facilitating access to the market for quality products and specialties of Italian territories increasingly appreciated even in China", accepting the Ambassador's willingness to work with their own authorities to carry out rapidly progress and define open files. The Ambassador expressed his appreciation for this first political meeting since his recent arrival in Italy, highlighting how the issues addressed - agriculture, food and nutrition - are all sectors in which Italy and China enjoy great traditions and strong complementarity.

The meeting offered the opportunity to take stock of the progress of bilateral relations in the agricultural and agri-food sectors, already excellent in many areas and which present ample margins for further strengthening, with significant repercussions for businesses and increased trade commercial. As emerged during recent visits to Italy and China, there is a common desire to continue to intensify collaborations so as to record concrete results at bilateral level and in multilateral forums.
