Mission in Afghanistan: courses for the Afghan Armed Forces

As part of the Afghanistan mission, the Basic Gender Course and Counter-IED (Improvised Explosive Device) courses were completed

In the past few days, Basic Gender Course and Counter-IED (Improvised Explosive Device) courses have been completed at the Train Advise Assist Command (TAAC-W) in Herat, in the context of the mission in Afghanistan.

The Basic Gender Course was organized for the staff of the 207 Army Corps of the Afghan Army (Afghan National Army - ANA) and of the Herat Police (Afghan National Police - ANP).

The aim of the course was to update and raise awareness among military and police personnel on issues related to the gender perspective: from the role of women in the security forces to the UN Security Council Resolutions on the protection of women and children .

The Counter-IED (Improvised Explosive Device) Course, aimed at Afghan female staff, provided the basic elements for the identification, recognition and reporting / marking of the danger area.

During the course of the course, held by instructors of the Italian Army Corps of Engineers, the importance of promoting awareness to the correct procedures to be adopted in the event of discovery of unexploded or improvised explosive devices was underlined before the intervention of the specialized departments of ANA and ANP.

The TAAC-W of Herat, under the leadership of the Brigade of Cavalry "Pozzuolo del Friuli" under the command of Brigadier General Giovanni Parmiggiani, has always paid particular attention to the training of all the personnel of the Afghan Security Forces, in which many roles rank, including of importance, are now covered by women: demonstration of the levels of female social integration, decidedly encouraging, achieved by Afghanistan in less than 20 years.

Resolute Support, a NATO-led mission, is composed of soldiers from 38 nations, all united in a single purpose, to contribute to training, assistance and advice to local institutions and security forces in order to facilitate the conditions for the creation of a state of law, credible and transparent institutions and above all, autonomous and well-equipped security forces.

This path is aimed at allowing the Afghan security forces to take on the task of ensuring the security of the country.
