Minister Patrizio Bianchi: "Music is an extraordinary miracle, study must be strengthened"

“Music allows you to tell a thousand stories. It allows you to live a thousand lives. Music is the ability to unite, the ability to include. Music is an extraordinary miracle ”. Thus the Minister of Education, Patrizio Bianchi, opened the Music Week, which this year is dedicated to the theme: 'Music Unites the School'. 

This morning the inauguration of the XXXII edition, with a conference attended by, in addition to the Minister Patrizio Bianchi himself, also Luigi Berlinguer, president of the National Committee for the practical learning of music for all students, Giovanni Biondi, president of INDIRE , Annalisa Spadolini, coordinator of the National Committee for the practical learning of music for all students, Marco Morandi, technologist, head of the research structure 'Laboratory teaching and innovation of the curriculum in the artistic / expressive area' INDIRE, Ciro Fiorentino, member of the National Committee for Practical Music Learning for All Students.

From today, and until Saturday 29 May, the exhibition will offer a full calendar of events with over 40 initiatives including conferences, workshops and open lessons and the contribution of 114 teachers, pedagogues, artists, school managers.

“I thank the Committee chaired by Luigi Berlinguer for the work done in recent years. This XXXII Week of Music - explained the Minister - must tell us how music can be a cornerstone of the education of our girls and our boys. The school must be the place where equality is built. And music is an instrument of construction of equality, of a school that wants to be a moment of construction of a community. Music needs to be strengthened ”.

The review is organized by the National Committee for the practical learning of music of the Ministry of Education and by INDIRE to remember the centrality of music in the education of girls and boys. Also this year, due to the Covid19 emergency, the review will take place entirely online and will be broadcast on the INDIRE platform.
