In 2025 in Italy the hang gliding world championships

Excellent news for hang gliding has come from Oporto in Portugal: the delegates of the FAI, the International Aeronautical Federation, unanimously awarded Italy the 2025 "sport class" world championships. The candidacy was placed by Delta Club Laveno and Aero Club Lega Piloti who will organize the event from 1 to 14 June in Laveno Mombello. The town in the Varese area, overlooking Lake Maggiore, is historically linked to hang-gliding, i.e. without an engine, a sport totally immersed in nature. Just think that the next 2, 3 and 4 June will host the 35th edition of the Valerio Albrizio Trophy, the longest-running hang gliding competition on the international scene with participants from all over Europe. The vast so-called Pradaccio area, on the border with the municipality of Cittiglio, will be used as official landing, and Poggio Sant'Elsa on Mount Sasso del Ferro, where the cable car station is also located, will be used as take-off.

The 2025 "sport class" world championships will be preceded the year before by another major international event, the pre-world championships, that is to say a sort of general rehearsal of the flying area by the pilots who will then have to face the world championship. The two events were welcomed with great favor by the local authorities, identified as extraordinary opportunities to promote sports tourism on Lake Maggiore, starting with the administration of the municipality of Laveno, the leader in supporting the candidacy with the FAI. Followed by those of the nearby Cittiglio and Sangiano and all in synergy with the Delta Club Laveno and the Aero Club Lega Piloti.
