An absolutely deserved recognition for this high quality product and for the more than 12 thousand Lucanian olive growers who produce it ”. Thus the Minister of Agricultural Policies Teresa Bellanova comments on the definitive go-ahead for the registration of the IGP "Olio Lucano IGP" in the European register of protected designations of origin and geographical indications (PDO and PGI) and of traditional specialties guaranteed (Stg) against imitations and fakes.
“A journey that began in 2016 and built over time with Luca Braia, former Councilor for Agriculture, in Basilicata, and has now come to fruition”, underlined Teresa Bellanova. “We can only be satisfied with the increasing number of our products officially recognized, with a dedicated brand, as great agri-food excellence, good not only for the palate, but also for health. An added value that also rewards the efforts of our producers to always ensure controls, quality and transparency for consumers ”.
With the Igp Olio Lucano, Basilicata's premium brand products officially rise to eighteen with five DOP, seven Igp, four Doc, one DOCG and one Igt.
