Nobody sees them, nobody talks about them, yet they exist, they are the angels of the Air Force

Two medical transports, which from the first light of dawn, involved the 31 ° Stormo aircraft of the Italian Air Force in favor of people in danger of life.

The first request for support, received from the Prefecture of Siena, involved a 66-year-old man destined to receive a heart transplant. The patient was transported, together with his wife, from Grosseto to Ronchi dei Legionari (GO), aboard a Falcon 50 of the 31 ° Stormo dell'Aeronautica Militare to be admitted to the integrated University hospital of Udine. Once returned to base, the same aircraft, but with a different crew, was engaged for a second request for support received from the Prefecture of Cagliari, in favor of a 52-year-old woman, who was transported from the Sardinian capital, together with the close family members and the medical team, in Milan Linate and then transferred to the IRCCS Foundation, National Cancer Institute of Milan. The requests for support were received by the competent Prefectures at the Top Situation Room of the Air Squad Command, the operations room of the Air Force which has among its tasks that of organizing and managing - in coordination with Prefectures, Hospitals and Ministers - this kind of transport throughout the national territory.

They are our angels:

"Air Force crews and transport aircraft are ready day and night to ensure, where required and deemed necessary for reasons of urgency, the medical transport of people in imminent danger of life. The dual activity carried out today is precisely the demonstration of the flexibility guaranteed by the structures of the Air Force in favor of the community. Thousands of flight hours are carried out every year by the aircraft of the 31st Wing of Ciampino, the 14th Wing of Pratica di Mare and the 46th Air Brigade of Pisa, always on the front line in case of emergency ".
