#NoiSonoLeScuole this week talks about the Comprehensive Institute of Sant'Elpidio a Mare

The video story of the Ministry of Education and Merit this week is dedicated to the Comprehensive School Institute of Sant'Elpidio a Mare (FM) and in particular to the “Andrea Bacci” complex, which will be demolished and rebuilt thanks to the dedicated investment line from the PNRR to the construction of 212 safe, inclusive, innovative and highly sustainable New Schools

A modern, inclusive school, without architectural barriers, attentive to different learning styles and with thematic workshops: this will be the Comprehensive Institute of Sant'Elpidio a Mare, in the province of Fermo, which will see the "Andrea Bacci" complex subject to demolition and reconstruction, thanks to funds from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR).

“It is certainly a unique opportunity – comments the Mayor of Sant'Elpidio a Mare, Alessio Pignotti -. The funds will allow us to redevelop what will be the new school in our centre, made up of three volumes: a civic volume, an educational volume and a sports volume, to allow 360-degree activities". The intervention – continues the Mayor – will be part of the "redevelopment of the entire area, so that it is suitable for children".

In short, it will be a model for the entire territory, as the Headmaster, Teresa Santagata, also declares: “Thanks to the PNRR tender, not only will the institute have advantages for the new structure but also the whole territory will be enriched. Families and students will have a more beautiful, more technological, more welcoming school than the current one."

And it is above all on laboratories that the teachers of the new school want to focus. “We have experienced, seen first-hand – says teacher Vincenza Buondonno – that laboratory teaching is a tool that works very well, with all kids. It is a new, operational way that makes them feel like creators of what they are learning." A teaching that can "take the best from the resources offered by technology", adds another teacher, Paolo Orsili.

But what will the new school look like? “The new building – explains Municipality engineer Raffaele Trobbiani – involves the construction of three blocks. The first will represent the civic hub, home to all those functions that can be used even when the school is closed. Then there will be the more educational block, in which ten classrooms will be located for each course of study. And then a third block for activities related to primary school."

The PNRR investment line aimed at the construction of new schools involves the construction of 212 new school complexes, whose architectural projects were selected with a design competition. All the interventions involve a building replacement action (demolition of an existing school and reconstruction) and are managed by the local owners of the buildings, beneficiaries of the loans. The projects of each new school were selected through a design competition and respond to guidelines that define the main structural characteristics that the new schools must respect, in terms of sustainability, openness to the territory, ability to welcome innovative teaching. The completion of the works is expected by 2026.
