Puglia's olive regeneration plan

The Monitoring Committee has been installed today at the Ministry of Agriculture

The Monitoring Committee set up as part of the Olive Oil Regeneration Plan of Puglia and composed of the representatives appointed by Mipaaf, Mise, Sud and Territorial Cohesion, Puglia Region took office this morning at the Ministry of Agricultural Policies.

At the center of the discussion, held by videoconference, the various implementation proposals and the progress of the entire Xylella Plan.

Particular attention was paid to measures aimed at rewarding the production sector damaged by the emergency and regenerating the production fabric and the Salento and Puglia landscape. Among others those addressed to oil mills, compensation to farmers, replanting.

In the next few days, the first ministerial measure will be activated through Agea, which commits 35 million euros in favor of the oil mills, while in the next meeting the proposals of the regional directed measures on replanting, conversion to other crops, safeguard of monumental olive trees will be evaluated.

The Committee has adopted an internal management regulation.

"With the formal establishment of the Committee, and after months of activity in which the various measures took shape," said Minister Teresa Bellanova, "the Plan for the olive regeneration of Puglia enters the implementation phase. An important moment, even more so in the face of the emergency produced by the coronavirus, because the future of agriculture will depend on the quality of this phase as well, not only from Puglia ".
