Abi: online simple guides on investment, credit and basic account services

The initiative is part of the Simple Transparency project developed by the ABI, in collaboration with banks and consumer associations

Guides are online with immediate, simple and essential information to help citizens understand the new regulatory framework for investment and credit services, and the opportunities offered by current accounts with basic features for managing essential banking needs. In the form of infographics, these three agile tools respectively highlight the main innovations introduced by the transposition of the European MiFID2 directive on investment services, the new European rules on the classification of debtors in "default" which oblige banks to adopt more criteria and methods stringent, and the main features of the Basic Account service.

Donation campaignThe initiative is part of the Simple Transparency project initiated by the ABI for years, in collaboration with banks and numerous consumer associations, with the aim of fostering ever more substantial transparency, simplifying and increasing the comprehensibility of customer communications , so as to facilitate the adoption of increasingly conscious choices.

The following are the characteristics of each infographic:

  • "MiFID2 - Clearer and more complete information on investment costs and charges": alongside the infographic already created in 2018 entitled "They are called MiFID2 and Priips and bring many news for investors", recalling in the text the new information duties in towards customers;
  • "Loans - more attention to deadlines and reimbursements": it aims to let customers know in which cases the bank is required to classify the debtor in "default", while at the same time offering advice to help citizens respect their commitments;
  • "Basic Account: what it is and who can obtain it without charge": highlights the main features of this financial inclusion service, the beneficiaries and the types of services and the number of annual operations that can be performed.

With a view to promoting their wider dissemination, the infographics are also available on the communication channels of the Consumer Associations that contributed to the initiative, recognized nationally within the CNCU. The Associations involved are: Acu, Adiconsum, Adoc, Altroconsumo, Asso-consumatori, Assoutenti, Casa del Consumatore, Verbraucherzentrale Südtirol - Center for consumer protection users, Cittadinanzattiva, Codacons, Confconsumatori, Federconsumatori, Lega Consumatori, Movimento Difesa del Cittadino, Movimento consumers, U.di.Con. - Union for the defense of consumers, National Consumers Union.

The three tools will also become part of the editorial series of audio guides created as part of the collaboration of the ABI with the Italian Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired - Onlus APS (UICI), launched in the spring of 2019 with the aim of promoting maximum accessibility to information by all customer groups.
