Now what happens?

(by Massimiliano D'Elia) The Lega in Umbria won its bet with 37,3% of preferences, also guessing its candidate Donatella Tesei, supported by the whole center that has achieved an exciting 57,3%, the civic candidate Vincenzo Bianconi stood at 36,2%.

What worries the government majority is the "political lab thing"Tested in Umbria, a total failure, the M5S collapsed at 8,2% while the Pd stood at 20,9%, losing more than 3 points compared to the 24 of the European Championships last May. Many are the doubts that assail the leader of the Movement, Luigi Di Maio who has already announced reservations about the alliance with the Pd: "so we lose support". From today it is not excluded that the internal struggles of the disappointed grillini are heated up even more. Yesterday, for example, everyone was celebrating the degree they had just received from Paola Taverna, as if the outcome of the Umbrian regional elections was not their problem, indeed the consecration of their idea of Luigi Di Maio's failure.

The outcome of the elections could already be read from the turnout which reached 64,4%, 9 percentage points more than in 2015. Another winner is Giorgia Meloni who stands with a resounding double figure, 10,3 percent, doubling Forza Italia, stopped at 5,3 percent.

Today, the Caroccio secretary underlined, "hundreds of thousands of Italians have said that Conte must go home. If in a land where you have always ruled and promised money and things, they give you a blow like that, with 20-25 points away, it is clear that this is a government that does not represent the Italians. The same thing would have happened in Calabria and in Emilia Romagna. It is a vote that has a national value. I don't think they can go on long. I wonder if someone at the Quirinale is not considering the fact that a power like Italy cannot drag on like this ".

"From Umbria, after a half-century, a historic turning point: even in the traditional red regions, the united center represents the vast majority of voters - commented on Twitter Silvio Berlusconi, president of FI -. Our alliance is the future of Italy and has the right and duty to govern the country". Also rejoice Giorgia Meloni of Fd'I, who wrote on social media: "stormed the stronghold of the left. Now let's free Italy". The government majority, on the other hand, collects defeat and reflects on the post-vote. "We have always considered the civic agreement for Umbria to be a laboratory, but the experiment did not work," he admitted. M5s on the Stars Blog. "Obviously we will reflect a lot on this vote and the choices to be made, a vote certainly not helped by the chaos of controversy that accompanied the government's economic maneuver - he concluded Zingaretti -. Certainly even if in a difficult situation it was right to put our face and fight "

The fact is that, however, the vote in Umbria cannot be neglected, the almost 700 thousand voters have expressed what is probably the sentiment of all Italians. The Palazzo alliance has not been digested because it is not credible and above all not reliable because it is the result of a marriage of "convenience" between historical enemies.

To give the final blow to the "strange" majority of the government the last maneuver devoted more to raising taxes rather than favoring growth, will be announced as scorching months.

The President of the Council, Giuseppe Conte is firm in wanting to maintain the "status quo", also because after this government, for him there will be oblivion.
