Paola Palma: "music and theater are firm points, if they close I have nothing left, reports a phrase by Andrée Ruth Shammah"

(by Francesca Proietti Cosimi) Paola Palma: “music and theater are fixed points, if they close I have nothing left, says a sentence by Andrée Ruth Shammah”.

The feeling that shines through in this sentence unites us all and even more I think of my fellow musicians who have had their concerts canceled (of which they live) in these days and I think of the entire chain that works in the cultural field which is always the first to be damaged, today as in the past, over the centuries.

How will they survive in this period and with what funds? News not received and of little interest unfortunately.

Not enough is said about the devastating effects that this collective madness around the Coronavirus will have on our economy.

We are undergoing a time suspended from reality in an almost dreamlike dimension that takes us back to the times of war or to the Middle Ages when it was not possible to play, the theaters were closed and all the shows were forbidden during Lent.

An ordinance was enough to spread the panic and bring us back in the dark, to the curfew and to the ration cards, regardless of our age.

Today as then, we just have to hope.

Hope that sufficient funds have been allocated for the search for a CoronaVirus cure, with the support of all countries ... and that this and only this is being talked about!

Hope that our politicians will not exploit this moment for other more or less hidden objectives and interests!

Hope that the media will endeavor to inform correctly and not to terrorize

Hope that theaters and schools will soon reopen and that music will start playing again.
