The Senate of the Republic, the Chamber of Deputies and the Ministry of Education renew, once again this year, their mutual collaboration to spread the values ​​and contents of the Italian Constitution among female students. A common commitment that is also relaunched in the light of the new teaching of Civic Education. This is what is announced in a circular sent today to schools.

Bringing young people closer to the issues of the Constitution through multidisciplinary activities and laboratory methodologies is a common commitment of the Ministry of Education and Parliament which, over time, has resulted in new initiatives and a plurality of projects, aimed at different levels of education and realized thanks to the contribution of the Regional School Offices, school managers and teachers.

Projects and calls for tenders are available for schools on the www.cittadinanzaecostituzione.it platform. In light of the health emergency, some competitions launched in the 2019/2020 school year have been extended for the 2020/2021 year, to allow participating educational institutions to complete the papers. For all other schools it will be possible to join the new competition notices.

"A day in the Senate"

Aimed at the classes of the third and fourth year of secondary schools, carried out in collaboration between the Senate and the Ministry of Education, the project will allow the girls and boys involved to get in touch with the mechanisms of the legislative procedure in its various phases, from presentation of a bill for its approval. For the winners, study and training meetings are planned to be held at the Senate, once the health emergency is over, to compare the knowledge acquired during the teaching activity with the concrete functioning of the Parliamentary Assembly of Palazzo Madama. "I would like a law that ..."

Aimed at the fifth grades of primary schools, the project, promoted by the Senate and the Ministry of Education, aims to make very young and very young people grasp the importance of laws and democratic confrontation, bringing even the youngest ones closer to the institutions and promoting them the civic sense. Deadline for uploading documents: January 27, 2021.

"Parlawiki - Build the vocabulary of democracy"

With this project, aimed at the fifth grades of primary and lower secondary schools, the Chamber of Deputies invites students to produce an original paper aimed at describing the concept of democracy and parliamentary activity, in the light of constitutional rules. The most significant works will be published on the Chamber's website, in the section dedicated to the youngest, and then subjected to online voting. Winners and winners will be invited to the final award ceremony at Palazzo Montecitorio, after the health emergency. Deadline for uploading documents: 12 January 2021.

“From parliamentary classrooms to school classrooms. Constitution Lessons "

The competition, carried out in collaboration between the Senate, the Chamber and the Ministry of Education, is aimed at secondary schools of the second degree. It is extended for the 2020/2021 school year exclusively for competing schools that have passed the regional pre-selection phase and the first national selection by the Technical Committee and that should have delivered the final paper by 23 March 2020. Institutions already participating in the competition will be able to conclude with other classes the projects started by the fifth classes that concluded their school curriculum in June 2020. New deadline for completing projects: January 29, 2021.

"Senate & Environment"

The competition, aimed at the last three years of secondary schools, and with which the Senate intends to engage students on the issues of environmental protection and sustainability, is extended for the 2020/2021 school year exclusively for competing schools that would had to deliver the final paper by 12 March 2020. New deadline to complete the projects: 28 January 2021.

"Witnesses of rights"

Aimed at the first two years of lower secondary schools and carried out in collaboration between the Senate and the Ministry of Education, the competition is extended for the 2020/2021 school year, exclusively for schools already in the competition that should have delivered the final paper by April 15, 2020. New deadline to complete projects: December 10, 2020.

"Training day in Montecitorio"

Aimed at the last two years of secondary school, the project aims to give students the experience of two days of work in the Chamber directly, through a meeting with the parliamentary committees and deputies elected in the territory they belong to. school. Following the health emergency, the project, banned for the 2019/2020 school year, was suspended to coincide with the start of the second semester of the same school year. In this context, the conclusion of the project for the 2019/2020 school year is extended to 2020/2021. Due to the health emergency, the training days will be held for the moment in the remote mode.
