Patuelli: Banks need stable private investors

Speaking at the conference on the thirtieth anniversary of the Amato Law, promoted by the Forlì Foundation, the President of ABI Antonio Patuelli affirmed, among other things, that banks need stable private investors, with broad horizons, not speculative in the short term: in Italy there are still few of this kind, after several decades of innovative legislation, designed to create the conditions.

Foundations of banking origin, which have greatly diversified their investments, are among the most far-sighted and stable shareholders of banks and have supported most of the innovations in the banking world, with the birth of European-sized groups and with participation in banks independent regional. The Foundations have also demonstrated resilience in complex economic phases, such as the current pandemic, and extensive income successes.

Italy, added President Patuelli, needs more (not less) far-sighted and stable investors such as Foundations: in this sense, fiscal incentives are also needed for shareholders, even small, stable and non-speculative ones, to guide the saving of Italians towards investments in productive sectors.
