PDL accelerates asbestos removal

This morning was presented in the Territory and Environment Committee, chaired by Stefano Baccelli (Pd), a bill concerning the protection of asbestos. The proposal makes some changes to the 51 / 2013 regional law.

Ilaria Bugetti (Pd), during the session explained that the Regional Council, to develop the regional plan to protect from asbestos, has given way to a mapping of the whole territory to identify the roofs containing asbestos. The mapping phase should be completed by next April. In the meantime, in order to be able to carry out the first removal immediately and therefore reduce the risks of exposure to asbestos, the bill establishes guidelines containing criteria and priorities for intervention in this area. Furthermore, criteria are laid down for the removal and disposal of asbestos from domestic users, in order to have greater control over the safety of operations and better cost management. The directors Giacomo Giannarelli (M5S), Monica Pecori (Misto-Tpt Group) and Paolo Sarti (Si '- Toscana on the left) asked to set a specific deadline for the Regional Council, so that the regional plan to protect the asbestos is presented in short times after the mapping has been completed. "The Democratic Party - replied President Baccelli - is willing to ask, after a necessary dialogue with the offices of the Executive, a realistic dead-line. This law goes precisely in the direction of speeding up the process, setting up criteria that allow quick removal of asbestos from small users.
