Oil and Gas, Russia in Africa and the Middle East. Concern for Italy's energy agreements

Russia has announced that it will strengthen relations with Africa and the Middle East to react to the sanctions imposed by Europe and the United States. The strategic sectors are those of Gas, Oil and Nuclear Energy. As stated by the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, at the end of the African tour.

The President of FederPetroli Italia - Michele Marsiglia "There is no lack of concern and a new alarm. We could find ourselves in a situation like the one that Libya has been experiencing for some years already, or the loss of some energy businesses for Italy which, for a series of situations, were supplied by Russia. We are monitoring developments but we cannot deny the evidence that, if Russia wanted, political problems could arise on the agreements recently signed by the Italian state.".

The Russian counterpart in aid of some countries is a threat to Italy's industrial development in strategic countries.

Continue Marseille "We are involved with big business and cooperation agreements with Egypt, Congo, Algeria and others, at this moment such a maneuver is dangerous. Russia could activate an aid exchange with several countries and destabilize the Italian agreements which, to date, are only on paper and in development. The initial phase is the most delicate, Algeria has increased gas flows to Italy, but in Africa and the Middle East, a change of political and industrial direction is on the agenda, as has already happened several times".

Russian interest in Africa in particular. "We are talking about large energy resources in the country. In recent months, the most significant agreements have been signed in Africa. It is clear that the aim is to destabilize the Italian energy policy and the signed contracts. Perhaps our country has underestimated some Kremlin moves that are undermining our foreign policy. Different countries will play on multiple geopolitical tables. This is the demonstration that if for Europe Russia is a country to be canceled, for the rest of the world things are different, especially in the Oil & Gas field.”In conclusion the President of FederPetroli Italia.
