Iraqi security forces dismantle terrorist cell operating in Mosul

The Iraqi Security Information Center has announced that the Iraqi security forces have dismantled a terrorist cell of thirteen members operating in the city of Mosul, the former stronghold of the Islamic State (IS) in the north of the country.

The operation, made possible thanks to intelligence information and cooperation from local residents, was conducted by police officers from the Nineveh command.

Among the thirteen people arrested were also some former members of the so-called Hebsa division, the religious police of IS.

The UN assistance mission present in Iraq has announced that since the beginning of 2018 there have been almost 800 civilians killed in the course of terrorist attacks, violence and armed conflicts in Iraq.
