Hossameldin Antar, alleged jihadist, goes to house arrest

Hossameldin Antar, 37, sentenced on appeal to three years and eight months for terrorism, was released from prison and received house arrest. The man, detained in the Rossano maximum security prison, then joined his family in Cassano d'Adda (Milan).

The second instance judges, last May, had reduced the penalties imposed on the three alleged terrorists belonging to a cell that operated between Liguria and Brescia.

The Genoa Assize Court of Appeal had sentenced Tarek Sakher, 4 years old from Algeria, to 6 years (35 years in first instance). Penalties reduced to 3 years and eight months each, and a crime retrained in apology for terrorism, for the two Egyptian brothers Abdelhakim, 44, and Hossameldin Antar 37 (6 years and 5 years in the first degree).

According to the indictment, the organization was responsible for the dissemination of jihadist material and oversaw the movement of fighters from North Africa to Syrian territory and Libya on behalf of the Islamic State.

According to what was ascertained during the investigation, Sakher was in contact with a European cell and was ready to carry out an attack. Abdelhakim, the eldest of the Egyptian brothers, instead had the task of recruiting fighters.

During the checks carried out by the military, Sakher's mobile phone featured scenes of killings, child soldiers, photos of the members of the commando responsible for the attacks in Paris, but above all the oath of allegiance to ISIS, to be recited before each assault.

But it was the messages found on the phone to trigger suspicions on the man, Sakher in several messages sent to other fundamentalists, in turn in contact with those responsible for the attacks in Europe, had written to be ready to sacrifice for Allah.
