State Police. 10 years after the death of the Prefect Antonio Manganelli

10 years after the death of Prefect Antonio Manganelli, the State Police recalled him this morning in a religious celebration held in Rome at the Basilica of Santi XII Apostoli.

Prefect Manganelli exercised the functions of Chief of Police - Director General of Public Security until his death in 2013 due to illness.

Alongside Mrs. Adriana Manganelli and her daughter Emanuela, the ceremony was attended by the Minister of the Interior Matteo Piantedosi, the Undersecretary of State to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers Alfredo Mantovano, the Chief of Police Lamberto Giannini, the former Ministers of the Interior Luciana Lamorgese , Marco Minniti, Angelino Alfano and Enzo Bianco, the former president of the Senate Piero Grasso, the honorable Mara Carfagna and the former Chiefs of Police Franco Gabrielli and Alessandro Pansa, the former Attorney General at the Cassation Giovanni Salvi and Dr. Gianni Read.

The rite was celebrated by Don Luigi Ciotti and concelebrated by Don Giuseppe Cangiano, National Coordinator of State Police Chaplains, and by Father Antonio Raaidy, Chaplain of the Institute for State Police Inspectors of Nettuno.

A quintet of the State Police Band accompanied the celebration.

In remembering Prefect Manganelli, the Minister of the Interior recalled their ancient and deep friendship: "besides being a friend he was a fundamental professional point of reference for me having had the opportunity to collaborate closely in an important phase of my experience, as Deputy Chief of Police". “Prefect Manganelli was a great representative of the institutions and an exceptional person. Authoritative, determined, charismatic, he was loved by the first of the quaestors to the last of the policemen. Never has the head of such an important institution been so appreciated and the greatness of the person is breathed through the warmth that is still there in memory of him, after 10 years ”, concluded Minister Piantedosi.

Emanuela Manganelli proudly recalled the figure of her father, an intelligent, empathetic, upright and transparent man; a brilliant and thoughtful policeman at the same time, an observer of people and souls, an extraordinary communicator who always had the right word. He was a wonderful, ever-present father who set an example for me and, I guess I'm not exaggerating, for all of us.
