Traffic monitoring continues, still very intense, by Viabilità Italia. As expected, the volumes of this weekend can define it as a counter-exodus in a month of August marked by the movements of Italians within national borders. Queues were formed at the barriers of east Milan, east Rome, Nocera, towards the regional capitals.

To facilitate the movement of light traffic, the limitation to the circulation of commercial vehicles with a total mass at full load exceeding 7,5t is active, which will be in force until 22.00, with the exception of authorized transportations and those directed or coming from 'abroad.

TRAFFIC SITUATION

The greatest criticalities are recorded in the following locations:

A1: sometimes queues between Terre di Canossa-Campegine and A1 / A15 junction, towards Milan, due to roadworks;

A1: queues between Florence Impruneta and Junction A1-Variante, between Monte San Savino and Florence south and between Ponzano Romano and Attigliano, due to heavy traffic, towards Milan;

A1: 2 km queues for works between Capua and Caianello, heading north; very intense traffic between Naples north and Capua, always northwards;

  • A30: 2 km queue at the Salerno barrier, towards Naples, and 1 km queue when entering the A1, towards Rome;
  • A16: 6 km queue between Lacedonia and Grottaminarda, in the direction of Naples, to reduce the carriageway;
  • A12: queues at sections for 4 km between Genoa east and Junction A12 / A7, towards the west, for roadworks 4 km queue from Carrara to La Spezia and 6 km queue between Versilia and Sarzana, due to heavy traffic, always heading west, towards Genoa;
  • A10: heavy traffic with slowdowns between Pietra Ligure and Spotorno, in the direction of Savona;
  • A6: slowdowns with queues at times between Savona and Altare, due to a construction site, in the direction of Turin;
  • A14: slowdowns with traffic jams in the direction of Bologna, northwards, between Cattolica and Bologna, between Vasto and Porto Sant'Elpidio; in a southerly direction, towards Bari, slowed traffic with queues between Bologna and Imola and between Faenza and Rimini due to heavy traffic;
  • A22: queues between Chiusa and Affi, heading south, due to heavy traffic; in the opposite direction, towards the Brenner Pass, slowed traffic with heavy traffic queues between Verona north and Rovereto north;
  • A23: queues between Tarvisio Nord and the State Border for health checks by the Austrian authorities.

Intense traffic at the port of Messina for boarding to Reggio Calabria, with an increase of 40 minutes.

On the road network managed by ANAS, traffic is intense and generally regular.

In A2 very intense traffic between Basilicata and Campania, at times slowed down due to small incidents that have now been resolved.

In Sicily, traffic is heavily slowed on the A29 due to fire in Cinisi, towards Palermo, and on RA 15, Gravina di Catania towards the Catania Nord junction, due to heavy traffic.

On the SS90 "delle Puglie" in Montaguto there is the closure between km 43 and km 49 due to the presence of material on the carriageway, following a fire in the morning, with traffic diversion on the SP26 and SP123 for light vehicles, while for heavy vehicles the deviation is on the A16.

RAILWAY TRAFFIC

Throughout the weekend and up to and including Monday 24 August, the inter-regional connections from Liguria to Lombardy and vice versa do not stop in the towns of Arquata Scrivia (AL) and Tortona. The changes have been established in agreement with the Liguria and Piedmont Eegions to ensure the movement of the expected passenger flows between Liguria and Lombardy, regions within which it is possible to travel by occupying all available seats and to comply with the provisions of the Piedmont Region. with an ordinance that provides for the maximum capacity of public transport to be 50%.

For the two Piedmontese towns there is a replacement bus service between Arquata, Tortona and Voghera, with direct connections also to Genoa and Milan. Direct regional services are available between Genoa and Arquata Scrivia and can be consulted in the official timetable.

WEATHER FORECASTS

The Department of Civil Protection issued a warning of adverse weather conditions yesterday, Saturday 22 August. A perturbed system of Atlantic origin, in fact, affects the northern regions, causing a gradual worsening of the weather conditions, with showers and thunderstorms even of strong intensity, especially close to the Alpine sectors, and tending to become more frequent today, Sunday 23 August.

In detail, the notice foresees from yesterday afternoon, Saturday 22 August, scattered to diffuse rainfall, with a prevalent reverse or thunderstorm character, on Piedmont, Lombardy, Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia, in extension from the early hours of today, Sunday 23 August, in Emilia-Romagna.

The phenomena will be accompanied by strong showers, frequent electrical activity, local hailstorms and strong gusts of wind.

TIPS AND INFORMATION FOR CARS

It is recommended to avoid any distraction while driving; always maintain a suitable safety distance from the vehicle in front; moderate speed respecting the limits set; fasten seat belts also in the rear seats and secure children with seats and adapters. It is forbidden to use cell phones while driving without speakerphone or earphones. Make frequent stops, at least every two hours of uninterrupted driving. Alcohol and drugs are incompatible with driving.
