All the alarm services activated today: Air Defense, Search and Rescue, Emergency medical transport and organ transport
Intense day today for the ready crews of the Air Force. All H24 alarm services have been activated for the safety and rescue of the civilian population.
Air Defense
Two Eurofighter interceptor fighters of the 36 ° Stormo di Gioia del Colle (BA) took off quickly (scramble in technical jargon) following the activation by the CAOC of NATO of Torrejon to intercept and identify two airliners, on two separate routes, which had temporarily lost radio contact with the air traffic control bodies. Promptly restored radio communications, the two interceptor fighter aircraft returned to base to resume both national and NATO Air Defense readiness alert service.
Search and Rescue
An HH139A helicopter of the 82nd Combat Search & Rescue Center (C / SAR) of Trapani, dependent on the 15th Wing of Cervia, was activated in the late afternoon today to search and rescue a young girl caught by a sudden illness while he was inside the Zingaro nature reserve. The military crew, activated by the Air Operations Command of the Air Force, took off from the military airport of Trapani to the reserve, operating in close synergy with the National Speleological and Alpine Rescue Corps. Once identified, the young woman was rescued and recovered on board the helicopter thanks to the help of the winch.
Emergency Medical Transport
A military transport aircraft C-130J of the 46 ^ Air Brigade of Pisa was activated following the request of the Cosenza Prefecture for the transport of an ambulance carrying an 18 baby girl in imminent danger of life. The particular transport was necessary to transfer the small patient from Lamezia Terme to Turin.
Transportation Organs
At the first light of dawn, a Falcon 900 aircraft of the 31st Wing of Ciampino carried out, at the request of the Prefecture of Udine, the urgent transport of an organ from the hospital in Turin to that of Udine.
All activities were coordinated by the Air Operations Command of Poggio Renatico and the Top Situations Room of the Rome Air Squad Command, the two main operational centers of the Air Force which, with dedicated and specific desks for each sector of use, they coordinate and activate all the assets and crews of the Armed Force in operational readiness throughout the national territory.
The activities carried out today are the synthesis of the peculiar activities that the Air Force carries out 365 days a year, seven days a week, 24 hours a day at the service for the safety and rescue of the citizen, for which every day of the 'year the crews of the Armed Force train to be always ready to intervene promptly and effectively.
