Port of Ancona, 40 million from MIT for the doubling of the Fincantieri basin

The program agreement signed between the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport and the Port System Authority of the Central Adriatic Sea, which will guarantee 40 million euros to be allocated to strategic infrastructure investments for the development of shipbuilding in the port of Ancona.

The resources allocated by MIT, as part of the plan of priority infrastructural interventions on the basis of environmental sustainability criteria, the safety of infrastructures and the completion of works already partially financed, will allow the doubling of the production capacity of the Fincantieri basin.

The Port System Authority of the Central Adriatic Sea has proposed a detailed infrastructural program for admission to financing which includes the construction of a new yard to extend the existing ones, the construction of a new quay for fitting out, and the extension of the basin. of dry dock for a total amount of 40 million euros.

"The objective shared by MIT and the Port Authority - says Minister Paola De Micheli - with this important financial allocation is that of developing the shipbuilding sector of the port of Ancona, through an infrastructural adaptation that will also attract new private investments" .

"We want the port of Ancona, one of the most important ports of the Adriatic Sea - he concludes - to reach the highest production and quality levels in the shipbuilding sector, in line with international standards, at the same time guaranteeing maximum sustainability environmental protection and the improvement of worker safety protection ".
