Traffic forecast for the weekend of June 2nd

On the occasion of the upcoming weekend that begins with the holiday of 2nd June, a significant increase in road traffic towards the main Italian holiday resorts is expected, as well as a forecast of intense traffic entering the border crossings.

The motorway concessionaires expect intense traffic flows already for today's afternoon to which are added forecasts of equal intensity also for tomorrow morning, while the projections indicate that in the afternoon of Sunday 4 June, most of the traffic returning to the major cities.

For the public holidays tomorrow and Sunday, vehicles over 7,5t will not be able to circulate in the time slot between 07:00 and 22:00.

As regards the road and motorway network managed by the company Anas (FS Italiane Group), high traffic volumes are expected on the A2 “Mediterranean Motorway”; on state highway 106 “Jonica” and 18 “Lower Tyrrhenian Sea” in Calabria; on the state road 148 "Pontina" in Lazio, a particularly busy artery which together with the SS7 “Appia” ensures connections between Rome and the tourist resorts of southern Lazio.

Furthermore, heavy traffic is also expected between central Italy and the north on the itinerary E45 which crosses the regions of Umbria, Tuscany, Emilia Romagna, as well as along the routes SS1 "Aurelia" e SS4 “Salaria” and along the entire Adriatic side of the SS16.

The Civil Protection Department, with regard to the expected weather scenario for the next few days, reports that the presence of a vast area of ​​low pressure in the Mediterranean Basin will continue to determine, even in the next few days, conditions of marked atmospheric instability over a large part of the our country. The phenomenology on Friday will be predominantly downpour or temporal with diurnal evolution in the inland and mountainous areas of all regions. For Saturday and Sunday the weather will be disturbed throughout the Centre-North with more widespread phenomenology, while in the South the instability will be more localised, always more likely in inland and mountainous areas everywhere. The ventilation will be weak from variable directions, from the northern or eastern quadrants. Temperatures will undergo little variation, remaining on values ​​close to the averages for the period, with a drop on Saturday and Sunday in the North.

The attention of those who will be traveling is called once again to adopt prudent driving behaviors that respect the rules of road behaviour.

  • check the efficiency of the vehicle;
  • rationally arrange the luggage by balancing the weights and not overloading the car;
  • identify a correct position for the transport of the animals;
  • avoid large meals and alcohol;
  • be sufficiently rested;
  • keep constantly updated on traffic conditions, local inconveniences or the adoption of traffic regulation measures to favor the fluidity of movements cannot be excluded.

During the trip:

  • keep the seat belts fastened, including the rear ones;
  • use the special "seats" for children;
  • do not get distracted while driving (with a mobile phone, radio, cigarette, etc.).
  • make frequent stops;
  • moderate speed;
  • keep a safe distance;
  • use caution when overtaking;
  • never use the emergency lane;
  • on three-lane motorways, always travel in the first lane, on the right.
