The State Police of Salerno has implemented a preventive seizure decree issued by the GIP of the Court of Salerno, against the legal representatives of companies operating in the "118 service" sector or dedicated to the transport and rescue of the sick in agreement with the Local Health Authority of Salerno, considered seriously suspected of the crimes of fraudulent transfer of values, embezzlement of use, interruption of public service, personal aiding and abetting, disturbance of occupations or the rest of people, issuing of false invoices for non-existent operations. The precautionary measure carried out concerned the capital goods of the aforementioned voluntary associations, and in particular 23 vehicles, of which 20 ambulances already used by the associations for contracts / assignments in agreement with the ASL of Salerno attributed to third-party companies and associations, but of fact attributable to a suspect resident in Capaccio (SA), already convicted of organized crime and burdened by an asset prevention measure. A bathing establishment, as well as an area and related property, already confiscated from organized crime and entrusted by the Municipality to people close to the aforementioned person convicted of organized crime, were also seized. The investigations of the Flying Squad were launched following the events that occurred on the night between 9 and 10 June 2019, following the election of the Mayor of the municipality of Capaccio-Paestum, when celebrations were organized on the public road by hundreds of supporters of the newly elected.
On the occasion a procession was arranged in the streets of the center of Capaccio with vehicles, which followed a heavy vehicle with advertising signs of the newly elected Mayor, including numerous ambulances with visual emergency signals (flashing lights) and sound devices turned on. Some bystanders present on the site recorded the motorcade that in a few hours went around the web and became news of national press. House searches were also carried out at private homes, company offices and at the ASL public offices of Salerno, notifying the warranty information to all the current suspects.
