(by Francesco Matera) Intensive care is filling up abroad, Italy, which has always been the leader in having adopted more restrictive containment measures, is thinking of new emergency measures in order to convince the undecided to vaccinate and favor the third dose, so-called "booster", to those who have finished the first vaccination cycle.
The government is therefore in the grip of an important resurgence of the virus and the pressure of the presidents of the Region who are preventing new closures during the Christmas period.
Next week the new measures, via a yet another DPCM. The decree will confirm the obligation for health personnel and workers of the RSA to undergo the booster of the vaccine. The government is also evaluating the advance of the third dose starting from the end of the fifth month and not from the sixth, in out of synchrony with the opinion of the EMA, which considers the 6-month interval valid.
The government is therefore in the position of having to make a clear distinction between those who have been vaccinated and those who have not. A "hard" line that transpires from the indiscretions of the Ministry of Health, confirmed by the owner of Regional Affairs Mariastella Gelmini who, in front of the regional presidents, clarified that there is no "no desire to split the country, but if the increase in infections and hospitalizations were to lead to new restrictions, it would not be conceivable to put the vaccinated and the unvaccinated on the same level".
Reduced gear green pass. The latest studies by the Higher Institute of Health show that vaccination coverage decreases after 6 months, and therefore the new decree will establish that the green pass is no longer valid for one year, but 9 months from the last inoculation. For this reason, last night Speranza anticipated the start of the recall campaign for the age group between 22 and 40 years to 60 November, while the EMA, by 29 November next, should comment on the vaccine for children between 5 and 11 years old.
Chapter tampons. The antigenic swabs have shown incomplete reliability and for this reason there are those who would like to eliminate them as a requirement to obtain the green pass. The doubt also remains for moleculars, but in this case the problem concerns the duration. From the moment the negative result arrives, there are in fact 72 hours and many scientists believe that in this period of time we can become infected and therefore be contagious without realizing it. For this reason they asked to reduce the validity to 48 hours, while that of the antigenic could be limited to 24 hours.
Prohibitions for no vax. Bars, restaurants, cinemas, theaters and all indoor places may be inaccessible to those who have not been vaccinated. A rigorous but necessary choice argued by the Ministry of Health. Among the hypotheses under consideration is the elimination of the buffer to obtain the green pass. Antigenic and molecular should only be used for those who do not have the vaccine but have to go to work.
