Civil Protection in the Italian squares for the campaign “Io non Rischio

I don't risk is a national communication campaign on good civil protection practices. But even before that, I don't risk it is a purpose, an exhortation that must be taken literally. Italy is a country exposed to many natural risks, and this is a fact. But it is equally true that individual exposure to these risks can be significantly reduced through knowledge of the problem, awareness of the possible consequences and the adoption of some simple precautions. And through knowledge, awareness and good practices being able to say, precisely, "I don't risk".

I don't risk it is also it slogan of the campaign, the hat under which every risk is illustrated and told to citizens along with good practices to minimize the impact on people and things. And in this case the term slogan, which in Gaelic means "Battle cry" is particularly appropriate: it is the peaceful battle that each of us is called to lead to spread an awareness that can help make us feel safer.

I don't risk takes place in the squares of Italy on the weekend dedicated to the national event and in other squares set up during the year as part of local initiatives, international workshops, conferences or cultural events.

The most effective way to defend yourself against a risk is to know it. This type of knowledge, to be really useful, usually involves a level of detail that can hardly be communicated with a simple radio or television ad.

“The ideal, for a citizen, would be to be able to talk to someone capable of telling him everything he needs to know about the earthquake, the tsunami or any other risk, perhaps meeting him directly in his city, in the square, on a Saturday or Sunday morning. And this is where the light came on: civil protection volunteers!

Voluntary civil protection associations are present throughout Italy. The volunteers live and work on their own territory, they know it and in turn they are known by local institutions and citizens. Who better than them to inform about the risks that exist on that territory?

From these assumptions the original idea of I don't risk. Train civil protection volunteers on risk knowledge and communication and then make them go to the streets, in their city, to meet citizens and inform them. An idea conceived and proposed by Anpas and immediately married by the Department of Civil Protection, Ingv and ReLuis, and then gradually extended to other civil protection associations. Because if it is true that ideas walk with people's legs, for an idea like this you need a lot of legs.
