The disused toys of our children will not end up in the unsorted waste container, but will be delivered by the Befana of the Red Cross of Caltanissetta in the hands of other Sicilian children.

Poste Italiane has supported this edition of “Ri-games @ mo”, bringing its contribution both in terms of distribution and logistics.

On the occasion of the Christmas initiative "Santa Claus Post Office", Poste Italiane, in fact, promoted the initiative at various schools on the island. 508 kg of used toys were delivered to one @ one who, after selecting, sanitizing and repackaging them. More than a thousand packages containing toys are entrusted to the Red Cross of Caltanissetta which will take care of "giving them back" on the day of the Befana.

From a psychological point of view, play has always been of great importance for children, because it represents the truest and most spontaneous expression of childhood, favoring the psychological development of the child. Through play, the child learns action patterns and relational skills, develops motor and cognitive skills, builds a behavioral repertoire on which personality development will be based.

The game allows you to achieve the following objectives; stimulates curiosity, dexterity, imagination, enhances learning. There is a substantial difference between children's games of yesterday and those of today, if in the past children played in groups in the open air, in the squares and this facilitated their socialization, today they play at home or on the computer, in the absence of their peers, eliminating opportunities for healthy interaction.

Let's re-play is therefore a socially useful tool as it allows even less fortunate children to play, promoting their psychophysical well-being and at the same time prevents toys, still in good condition, from ending up in the waste. We must also imagine the emotion of giving something of our own to others, and see the emotion of the child who receives it. As Saint Teresa of Calcutta said: “there is more joy in giving than in receiving.

The Toys, with a view to reducing waste, recycling and reuse, all the games have been subjected to checks and those not suitable for donation to small natural recipients have been sent to the various recycling circuits (100 kg of paper, 50 kg of plastic packaging, 2 kg of batteries and 30 kg of non-usable toys).

Over the years, the Ri-giochiamo project has joined both the EWWWW, European Week for Waste Reduction (http://www.ewwr.eu/it), an initiative aimed at promoting the implementation of awareness raising actions on sustainability and correct management. of waste and also at the Sustainable Development Festival (http://festivalsvilupposostenibile.it), the Sustainable Development Festival is the largest Italian initiative to raise awareness and mobilize citizens, young generations, businesses, associations and institutions on issues of economic sustainability , social and environmental, spreading the culture of sustainability and achieving a cultural and political change that allows Italy to implement the United Nations 2030 Agenda and achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
