PALERMO: AT A PARTICULARLY DIFFICULT TIME, THE STATE POLICE IS MOBILIZED IN FAVOR OF THE MOST NEEDED

In relation to the current health emergency scenario, determined by the growing spread of the COVID-19 contagion in the country, the State Police has undertaken a solidarity initiative in favor of the less affluent families of the capital. The inevitable repercussions in the socio-economic fabric of the city, consequent to the rigorous, but necessary, measures adopted by the Government for the containment of the contagion to protect the irrepressible good of public health, raise the moral need to implement appropriate actions to support of the most economically disadvantaged social groups.

On the basis of these reflections and with the primary intention of giving a sign of tangible and concrete solidarity, also in view of the approach of Holy Easter, a fundraiser was promoted, through spontaneous donations by the police of Palermo, for the purchase of shopping vouchers, for the purchase of basic food items, to be distributed, also with the collaboration of local voluntary associations, to families living in some of the city districts characterized by large pockets of social and economic hardship, such as Cep, the Albergheria and Borgo Vecchio. The generosity and great sensitivity shown by the Palermo policemen made it possible to reach the figure of 9.000 euros, for which about 400 shopping vouchers were delivered, which today were distributed to needy families, also through the collaboration of voluntary associations " Borgo Vecchio nel Cuore ”, Women of Benin City”, “Fatima”, “San Giovanni Apostolo Onlus” and the “Centro Santa Chiara”.
