Reinstated by Arcelor Mittal yesterday, the first ex-Ilva worker in As registered with the Union of Base of Taranto, following the sentence with which the judge condemned the company for anti-union conduct pursuant to article 28 of the Workers' Statute ; the lawsuit had been initiated and pursued by the USB. The worker will therefore return to his position as a laboratory worker as an employee of Arcelor Mittal and the arrears indemnities not paid in recent months will be recognized.
The judge's judgment substantially revealed that, in identifying the workers who were entitled to move to Arcelor Mittal, the company had not applied the required criteria. As a consequence of this, reintegration is now underway.
This is the hot comment of the provincial USB coordinator of Taranto, Franco Rizzo: “He is only the first of several workers who will regain possession of their working dimension as a result of this ruling. This is done through a criterion that allows to remedy the violation and to return what has been unjustly denied. We would have gladly avoided the judicial process, but we have to admit, despite ourselves, that only in this way was it possible to achieve this result. In fact, the multiple attempts of our union organization to resolve the issue with Arcelor Mittal through a serene and constructive dialogue have proved in vain ".
