Cnel-Ministry of Education-Traffic Police synergy

CNEL, Ministry of Education and State Police in the field to educate young people in the safe use of the electric scooter. Among the new forms of soft mobility that, even following the pandemic emergency, have had a widespread boom, there is certainly the use of the scooter, often preferred to public transport and to the car, especially for short journeys.

From this was born the idea of the National Council for Road Safety and Sustainable Mobility of the CNEL to create, together with the Ministry of Education and the Traffic Police, an educational video as an information tool for students of first and second grade secondary schools. , main users of this new means of transport.

The video, which will also be broadcast on Rai channels thanks to the collaboration of Rai per il Sociale, is accompanied by a summary by the Traffic Police on the current legislation on the correct use of the electric scooter (use of helmets for minors, reflective jacket under certain conditions, speed limits).

The electric scooter is spreading and can become an ecological and sustainable mobility tool, especially for small urban trips. However, prudence and knowledge of the rules are fundamental, because, despite its usability, it is a means of transport that can have higher hazard profiles than those of cars, motorcycles and bicycles.

The debate regarding the tightening of the current regulatory framework is also underway these days which must in any case, in the opinion of the proponents, always be accompanied by a capillary training, awareness and empowerment of young people.

The information campaign anticipates the insertion of the video on the EDUSTRADA platform, from next September, as part of the training offer of the Ministry of Education for the school year 2021-2022 and as a useful food for thought for children and support for teaching by the teaching staff.

Bringing road safety into schools, even in new ways, is a common interest.
