Rome, historical exhibition of Aeropittura the 16 and 17 September at Palazzo Aeronautica

The Palazzo dell'Aeronautica, in Rome, will host the exhibition "Futurist Skies - from 10 to 17" from 1916 to 1942 September organized by the Air Force and the Italian Aeronautical and Space Medicine Association to introduce the authoritative guests of the important conference international, a precious testimony of our artistic heritage expressly extended to the themes of Aviation and flight. The exhibition, curated by the art historian Maurizio Scudiero, collects more than fifty works dedicated to flight including those of the most famous exponents of the "Aeropainting" movement which had a moment of particular affirmation and prominence in the years following the First War World. Inaugurated on 10 September with the intervention of the Chief of Staff of the General Air Force of SA Enzo Vecciarelli, the gallery of works can be visited by enthusiasts and onlookers on Saturday 16 and 17 September from 9 to 14 at the "central" headquarters of the Arma Azzurra, the historic building built in the Thirties, in turn a unique piece of rationalist architecture perfectly preserved both externally and internally with part of the furnishings and rooms in which, over the years, the pioneers of the sky and their successors. “To be counted as“ aeropainting ”, a work must fall within certain specific operational parameters codified by a group of signatory artists towards the end of the 20s. Aeropainting was nothing more than a metamorphosis, a pictorial declination, of Futurism that asserted itself in the years following the First World War based on the concept of flight and dynamism ”, reads a press release of the Armed Force. The works part of the exhibition are over fifty, signed by internationally renowned artists (Tato, A. Gauro Ambrosio, Filia, Tullio Crali, Alimandi, Gambini, Manzoni, Munari, Depero, Corona, Sironi, Baldessari, Contini, Koronpaj and Bonazza) , in turn pioneers of a genre that today deserves to be rediscovered, admired, valued. On this occasion, it will also be possible to visit the Historical Rooms of Palazzo Aeronautica, considered a wonderful example of Italian rationalism and one of the monumental complexes of greatest historical and architectural interest in the country. Built in just 18 months from 1929 to 1931, it is still the institutional headquarters of the Air Force.
