The news that the Justice Department is in possession of two BlackBerrys belonging to the Maltese professor emerged after the lawyer Sidney Powell, general lawyer of General Michael Flynn asked the High Court to know more details about the two apparatuses. In an application presented to the District Court of District of Columbia on October 15, lawyer Powell asks the Justice Department to "produce evidence that the Department only recently came into possession". Hence the association that some US media do between Barr's visit to Rome and the sudden appearance in Washington of Mifsud's cell phones.
According to lawyer Powell, the evidence cited "include the data and metadata of two devices" BlackBerry, of which are listed model, imei, pin and number of sim. This is a BlackBerry 9900 Bold, number of sim 8944100030207458 (...); and a BlackBerry SQC100-1, number of sim 8944100030048762 (...).
Lawyer Powell explains that the request was made to the Justice Department (which the FBI depends on) initially by e-mailing the October 11, without getting a reply. The data and metadata contained in the two BlackBerry "used by Joseph Mifsud," reads the request presented to the court, are "exculpatory material and relevant to the defense "of Flynn. However, Powell does not reveal how she became aware of the two mobile phones and, above all, that they are now in the hands of the US Department of Justice. The lawyer, in a tweet of the 15 October, writes that the two phones "were given in use to Mifsud".
Even Mifsud's lawyer, Stephan Roh, interviewed by the Epoch Times, confirms that the US Department of Justice is in possession of the Maltese professor's two BlackBerry and claims to be aware of the fact that Mifsud used them to communicate with "at least one person in the US".
Roh adds, "I was told that it is possible to get much more data and information from the phones." Not even Roh, also a figure discussed in the Russiagate affair for his alleged links with Russia, explains how he became aware of the fact that now the two devices are in the possession of the US authorities. It should be remembered that Flynn, a former White House national security adviser, was the first excellent head of the Trump Administration to fall for the Russiagate affair. In December of the 2017 he admitted that he had lied to the FBI during an interrogation in January of that year about his relations with the Russian government. Flynn, in the wake of Barr and Durham's counter-investigation and following in the footsteps of George Papadopoulos, another key figure of Russiagate and its alleged Italian branches, now claims to have been 'framed'.
It is clear from the request presented by his lawyer, in which Powell writes that the data and metadata of the two BlackBerry of Mifsud are in particular relevant to "the"OCONUS LURES'and to the agents that Western intelligence services have used against (Flynn) probably since the 2014 ″. The term 'OCONUS LURES' refers to counter-espionage operations conducted outside the United States. Also according to the request submitted to the court by Flynn's lawyer, Western agents would "set up - unbeknownst to him - 'connections' with some Russians who they would later use against him to make false accusations." This is a thesis that, while moving back the timeline, would coincide with that, never officially declared, of the counter-investigation of Barr and Durham: the Obama Administration, with the competition of intelligence services of allied countries (Italy, United Kingdom and Australia ) 'polluted' the presidential campaign of Donald Trump, to then be able to fit the tycoon in the event of an election.
The same thesis supported by George Papadopoulos, the former Trump campaign consultant, also convicted (12 days in jail and a year of probation) for lying to the FBI about his relations with Russian officials. Papadopoulos, who also wrote a book about it, claims to have been 'hooked' by Mifsud in the spring of 2016, shortly after he entered the Trump campaign. In a meeting at Vincenzo Scotti's Roman Link Campus University, Papadopoulos repeatedly stated, Mifsud, the alleged 'provocative agent' offered him "dirty" material on Hillary Clinton, thousands of compromising emails, owned by the Moscow government.
The circumstance is also reported in the report produced by special prosecutor Robert Mueller at the end of his investigation into Russian infiltration of the US elections of the 2016, and is considered the triggering element of the Russiagate.
It must be said that Mueller himself, in the hearing before the Congress after the publication of his report, before the pressing questions of the Republicans who asked him why Mifsud had not been pursued by the FBI, falls a few times in contradiction to the role of the professor Maltese, then hiding behind the secret of the investigation. At the press conference at the White House with the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella, Trump himself said he believed the 2016 elections were "corrupt" and that corruption could "go up to Obama". Not only that, while admitting to "not knowing the details" of Barr's investigation, the US president affirmed that even Italy "could" be involved in the Russiagate affair. On the visits of Barr and Durham to Rome, premier Giuseppe Conte will soon report to Copasir.
It should be remembered that Papadopoulos, for having stated in an interview that he believed the then premier Matteo Renzi has plotted with the Obama Administration to his own detriment and to Trump, has been sued by the senator of Italy Viva. Same Link Campus University, which has recently been defined by the New York Times as a "whirlwind of intrigue"Has announced lawsuits against anyone who associates the name of the Roman university with unclean operations. The thesis of Link is that Papadopoulos and Mifsud, who had a marginal role in the university, already knew each other before the Roman meeting. However things may be, something more will be known from the analysis of Mifsud's cellular data. As stated in the documents produced by lawyer Powell, in an email dated 15 October, the Justice Department replies: "if we establish that they contain information that can be disclosed or relevant to justice, we will provide it". Hence, the request forwarded directly to the court, which should rule the next November 7.
