Polish Interior Minister Joachim Brudzinski met with his Italian counterpart Matteo Salvini to discuss common security issues. The talks focused on the effectiveness of the ongoing cooperation between Italy and Poland as regards national security and the fight against organized crime. "Joint patrol services will contribute significantly to guaranteeing the safety of our citizens," the Polish minister said during the press conference. He then added: “Today's meeting with Minister Salvini gave us the opportunity to discuss a series of crucial issues within the framework of the areas pertaining to our departments. I want to thank Deputy Prime Minister Salvini for his willingness today, especially as regards the unification of the rules relating to the participation of the Polish army and police forces in commemorative ceremonies relating to events affecting our two countries ”. The meeting was therefore an opportunity to talk about the centenary celebrations of diplomatic relations between Rome and Warsaw.
Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini shared the Italian security line with Poland and did not resist mentioning the story of the Sea Watch and Sea Eye 49 migrants following the announcement by the Maltese Prime Minister, Joseph Muscat on an agreement reached with the EU, where it was established that the migrants will be then redistributed among eight countries, including Italy:
"Every sign of failure to the blackmail of smugglers and non-governmental organizations reopens an irregular flow that we managed to close. "I would have allowed the Libyan coast guard to intervene as it was proposed to do, without the involvement of private associations. I have not authorized any entry and should be consulted before making decisions like this. Our goal is to make sure that no one is more forced to leave their country under these conditions ".
Giorgia Meloni added to the dose and wrote on Facebook: “A lot of chatter, but in the end they all land in Europe and Italy takes its share of Sea Watch immigrants. No more teasing, the only serious solution is the naval blockade off the Libyan coast. Salvini pay attention to the Brothers of Italy and not to the Five Star Movement of Fico and Di Maio.
