A fisherman suffering from illness on board his fishing boat was rescued by an HH-212 helicopter from the 80th C.SAR Center. (Combat Search and Rescue) of the 15th Wing of the Italian Air Force. The helicopter, on the orders of the Poggio Renatico Air Operations Command and after embarking a doctor and a 118 nurse, took off from Cagliari airport at 19.40 pm to reach the fishing boat which was located about 70 nautical miles south of Cagliari.
Once he reached the boat, the fisherman was recovered by means of a winch with an evacuation triangle thanks to the help of a rescuer. Once in the area, the crew recovered the forty-two year old, also thanks to the use of night vision goggles (NYG - Night Vision Goggles), and then set off for Cagliari, where he landed at 21.35pm. The young fisherman was then transhipped by ambulance and left in the care of 118. The helicopter immediately resumed normal readiness for the national SAR alarm.
