Meeting of the Observatory on School Buildings Minister Patrizio Bianchi: “The safety of schools is a priority: the well-being of staff and students is at the center. Let's rethink the places of learning "

The Observatory for school buildings met this morning by videoconference, opened by the intervention of the Minister of Education, Professor Patrizio Bianchi.

“The issue of safety in schools is fundamental, it is the measure of our civilization. Talking about school buildings means talking about the well-being of staff, female students and students, but also about learning places, which we need to rethink ", the Minister underlined, recalling that, since the government took office, 1 billion and 125 million have already been made available for the safety of secondary schools. "Together with the Ministry of the Family and the Ministry of the Interior, we then allocated the first tranche of 700 million euros to be assigned to the Municipalities for the renovation, redevelopment, conversion and construction of buildings for nursery schools and schools childhood. It is precisely from here that we must start again: we must build adequate spaces, the open, inclusive and loving school for which we are working. Securing the school system is our first mandate. Our children, our kids must be safe at school, they must find environments that are not only hospitable, but where to build their affections and the relationship with the territory".

Today's meeting of the Observatory was also an opportunity to present the state of implementation of the various lines of funding and the news relating to the National Registry of School Buildings. In fact, the development of web applications has been completed that allow the Ministry of Education to acquire the data of school buildings in real time and to have more reliable and qualitatively better information, not only for cognitive purposes of the school building heritage, but also for a good planning of interventions. The implementation of the new Registry will also be accompanied by training webinars.

The following took part in today's meeting: the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Sustainable Mobility, the Ministry of Culture, Civil Protection, Inail, the structure of the Commissioner for the reconstruction of the 2016 earthquake, the Regions, Anci, Upi and trade associations: Cittadinanzattiva, Legambiente, the Vito Scafidi Foundation, the San Giuliano di Puglia Victims Committee, Save the Children and Anmil.
