SeaWatch, entered in the register of suspects Carola Rackete

The Sea Watch3 captain, Carola Rackete, was entered in the register of suspects for facilitating illegal immigration and for refusal of obedience to a warship, as required by the navigation code. The registration in the register of suspects, by the Procura of Agrigento, was made after the acquisition of the annotation of the Guardia di Finanza.

In the meantime, the landings continue, 40 arrived yesterday aboard small boats.

Yesterday SeaWatch tried to enter the port of Lampedusa but was blocked by the Italian authorities.

The news was given by the NGO's spokeswoman, Giorgia Linardi: "the ship communicated with the authorities informing them that 24 hours had passed since the declaration of the state of necessity that forced it to enter the territorial waters. At 14.16, having received no communication or assistance, he proceeded to the port. But about a mile away she was told to turn off the engines.

Also yesterday a delegation of parliamentarians she boarded the Sea Watch to meet the NGO volunteers and get a clearer picture of the situation: present  Graziano Delrio, Matteo Orfini and Davide Faraone of the Democratic Party, Riccardo Magi of the Radicals and Nicola Fratoianni (Italian Left). Clutches with the Netherlands.

Clutches with the Netherlands

"As the Dutch government has long stated, we understand Italy's concerns and recognize its efforts to curb the uncontrolled migration to the EU. It is also known that the government shares concerns about Sea-Watch's actions, "but while the Netherlands takes responsibility for the fact that the boat is flying the Dutch flag," this does not mean that we will also take migrants ": the Netherlands Minister of Migration, Ankie Broekers-Knol.

Salvini's reply was not long in coming, as reported by Ansa: "It does not end here with the Dutch government. If there was an Italian ship doing business of its own in front of the port of Rotterdam, I would like to see what they would say ". Those who help human traffickers pay the consequences".

Migrants aboard the ship

"The solution for people on board the Sea Watch it is possible only once landed". Thus European Commissioner Dimitris Avramopoulos, explaining that Brussels "is closely involved in coordinating with Member States to relocate migrants" when they are on the ground. But from Interior Minister Matteo Salvini, there are no openings. And also the premier Giuseppe Conte defines "of unprecedented severity "the behavior of the commander Carola Rackete who violated the alt and has headed towards Lampedusa.

Meanwhile, from SeaWatch the cry dictated by exasperation: "We waited another night, we can no longer wait".

The legal issue

Sea Watch lawyers presented a complaint to the power of attorney of Agrigento in order to evaluate "any criminal conduct" on the part of the "maritime and port authorities in charge of managing the rescue activities" and to request that "the adoption of all necessary measures" to allow the migrants to disembark "and put an end to the situation of serious hardship "to which they are subjected.

Salvini, in response, calls into question the magistrates: "I hope that in the last few hours there will be a judge who says that inside that ship there are outlaws, first of all the Capitana. If the ship is seized and the crew arrested I am happy".

The EU Commission

The European Commission is seeking availability for the redistribution of shipwrecked 40 (two have been disembarked due to poor health conditions). "I address - states Avramopoulos - a call to Member States to show solidarity. We will continue to remain at the side of Italy and all states under pressure ".

As for the threat launched yesterday by the Minister of the Interior not to register those who land in the European database, from Brussels they report that "European law requires that all new arrivals on European territory must be registered and their fingerprints must be taken, not there are exceptions to these rules and the consequences are infringement procedures, but we are not at this stage".
